Individual Writing/Career Coaching
Our One-On-One Coaching service (in-person or over the phone) is tailored to your needs as a writer and the attention your individual manuscript and/or career needs.
Why Trust Us With Your Work?
Before having their work widely published, our instructors were new writers hoping to figure out how to finish their work and see it into the world. Without the support of a literary community and/or a mentor, figuring out your path as a writer can feel overwhelming. Most writers need encouragement, affirmation, and solid constructive criticism to finish their work, to survive the draft and get to THE END.
But once the work is complete, how do you figure out what to do with it? Some writers want to pursue an MFA. Others want to start querying agents, submitting to literary journals, or figuring out the best way to self-publish. So how do you know what path is right for you?
Let our accomplished instructors help guide you. Their books have been published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, Simon & Schuster, Harper Perennial, Gallery, FaithWords/Hachette, The University of Arkansas Press, A Strange Object, Black Lawrence Press, and have won the Foreword Review’s Editor’s Choice Prize for Fiction, Hurston/Wright Legacy Award in debut fiction and the Black River Chapbook Competition.
Our Instructors have also had their work widely published by great magazines, maybe the same magazines you're hoping to submit to and find publication in their pages: Tin House, McSweeney's, New York Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, ZYZZYVA, Electric Literature, Vice, Short Fiction, BOMB, Salon, O, the Oprah Magazine, The Sun, The Southern Review, New England Review, American Short Fiction, Gettysburg Review, Redivider, Green Mountains Review, Pleiades, Black Warrior Review, Black Clock, The Los Angeles Review, Boston Review, The Brooklyn Rail, Fence, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, The Best Small Fictions, and The Masters Review, to name just a few.
And our instructors have attended top MFA programs such as Iowa, Michener Center for Writers at UT Austin, UC-Irvine, ASU, Cal Arts, Sarah Lawrence, and understand what it takes to get accepted.
We'd love to get to know you and your work, and to help you in your journey to publication and the career you hope to have. Our pricing is straight forward and based on industry standard rates. We charge a flat rate of $60/hour.
Often, subjects include (but are not limited to) discussing elements of craft, discussing your work-in-progress, outlining, revising, manuscript critique, submission/publication strategies, querying agents, goal-setting, and creating an online platform/presence, and everything else pertaining to your journey as a writer.
