Now more than ever the world needs your words. Poet Joseph Milazzo is teaching a 3-hour seminar on 4/30 at 1PM titled "Poetry from the Senses." We'd love to have you join us for this great workshop, as detailed below:
What is poetic imagery? From one perspective, poetic imagery is the activation of the imagination's sensory networks. The reader encounters a reference to a visual, auditory, olfactory or tactile phenomenon, and, in his or her own mind, reconstructs a perceivable object. In this intensive generative seminar, we will discuss the value of concrete imagery in a poetic context, the implications and entailments of the individual senses, and how, as poets, we can create new work both around and out of our own sensory experiences. Through brief readings, shared writing exercises and traditional workshop, we will focus on how to make our writing powerfully sensual, vivid, and deeply connected to basic (or "universal") human experience as made available to us via perception. Participants will also leave this workshop with a set of new tools that they can employ in sustaining their own independent writing practices. To register, simply click on the photo above!
