Poet Joseph Milazzo is teaching a 3-hour seminar on Sunday, June 11th at 1PM titled "Poetic Form and Inspiration." We'd love to have you join us for this great workshop, as detailed below:
Poetry can be defined in terms of its music; as a song. But any given poem is also a construction, a shape with angles and contours all its own; any given poem is a topography. In this intensive generative workshop, we will invent original forms for our own poetic occasions. To accomplish this, we will also consider how the aesthetics of poetic form are expressed across global cultures: forms canonical as well as novel, simple as well as complex, expansive as well as compressed, and open as well as closed. Throughout, we will give consideration to how poetic forms not only frame "content" but also forge their own meanings independent of what they "contain." Participants will also leave this workshop with a set of new tools that they can employ in sustaining their independent writing practices.
